Family-owned and -operated since 1971, L.R. Willson & Sons, Incorporated started as one man and a dream. Leonard R. Willson founded Willson’s Welding in 1951, which was a one-man welding shop located in Annapolis, Maryland. Willson incorporated his company in 1971 with the help of his daughter and two sons, and L.R. Willson & Sons, Incorporated was born.
It wasn’t long before the Willsons saw the need for a separate branch to handle crane rental, rigging work, storage and trucking/hauling, and thus L.R. Willson & Sons Crane Rental was born. Today, our service area includes most of the Mid-Atlantic Region, including Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington, DC and parts of Northern Virginia.

L.R. Willson & Sons, Incorporated continues to be family-owned and -operated today, although we’ve grown over the years to include over 150 dedicated employees as part of our extended family. An expanded inventory of equipment means we can provide the equipment for virtually any construction project on the East Coast. Safety and efficiency continue to be the cornerstones of our business and the reason for our longevity and continued industry success.
Certified Crane Operators
L.R. Willson & Sons is certified as an American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Advance Steel Erector and a Precast Concrete Institute (PCI) Certified Pre-Cast Erector, while L.R. Willson & Sons Crane Rental has certified operators with the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators.
